meet ellie

Hi there! My name is Ellie, and I'm the founder of Silver & Slate, based in sunny Austin, Texas. I’m loving life here with my husband, Kevin, and our fluffy baby Lilly. For my day-job, I am an interior designer for a company that builds luxury homes, plus a freelance interior designer and photographer on the side.

After earning my degree in Photography from the Columbus College of Art and Design, I went out into the real world and promptly made an unexpected career change, landing a job at an interior design studio. I love interior design— the colors, the furniture, the light fixtures...I just adore watching a space transform from dated or dark or dingy to beautiful and bright! But even with a new job that I totally loved, I could never fully shake photography. Then, I realized I didn't have to, and here we are! 

I'm living out a dream right now, and I can't say enough how truly blessed and grateful I feel that I can pursue both of my passions in this big crazy world of ours. I'd love to be a part of your life, to make your house into the home that you've always envisioned, or to document your most beautiful moments, or hey, maybe both!
